Information Collection and Disclosure Practices
Please be advised that the Insight Learning Foundation's website, http://www.insightlearning.com (including successor pages, the "Site"), may not be used by children under the age of thirteen (13) and children under such age may not submit any personal information to Insight, except through their parents or legal guardians.
Our registration form requests certain contact and profile information (like your name, e-mail address, and zip code). Some of the requested information is required in order to receive Insight's services; other information is optional. Depending on the specific Insight services and products for which a user registers, certain category-specific information will be requested. We use this additional data to personalize your Insight experience. By obtaining and using this information, Insight can provide you with timely, relevant, and individualized service according to your preferences and interests.
In addition, we also collect technical information, such as the identification of the server your computer is logged onto, your browser type (for example, Netscape or Internet Explorer). You can add, modify or remove any of your personally identifiable information or control its usage by us at any time by "Changing Your Status," as set forth below. We use all this information in seven ways:
Unless otherwise indicated below, We do not share any of your information with third parties without your consent. You may grant permission for us to share certain information of yours with third parties or sponsors by making the appropriate selection on the site. We may also provide you with opportunities to receive information about additional products and services, but Insight will never share your information with third parties unless you grant us consent.
We use a third party vendor for certain Insight e-mails, and this vendor may use web beacons, pixel tags or similar technologies to monitor whether you opened any HTML-formatted emails from Insight. Any information collected by this partner is the sole property of Insight and will not be used nor distributed to other third parties.
We use data collection tools called cookies to facilitate user login sessions. Cookies are small files placed on your hard drive which assists us in providing a more efficient and customized experience to you. Insight uses "session cookies" which are deleted from your hard drive at the end of each login session. You may always decline our cookies if your browser so permits, in which case you may not be able to use certain features on our site.
Insight uses both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. We use session cookies to remember login information entered inside Insight as you click through our web pages. The session cookie will expire once you logout or close your browser. Persistent cookies will store your login and contact information and recall it next time you login or puchase an item from our Bookstore.
We prepare analyses and reports for internal use, academic research, as well as for a limited number of our business partners. These reports may include aggregate or segmented information about our users. The information in these reports will not identify you individually. Our business partners who have access to these reports will not be able to contact you from the information contained in the reports. We will not provide your personally identifiable information to our partners or any other third parties without your consent, except that info may be shared with those with whom we contract to carry out the internal operation of the site (for example, to send you our monthly newsletter). Such contractors have agreed with us to use personal information of site visitors only for the purposes of carrying out these operations. In particular, we do not rent or sell mailing lists of site visitors to any third party.
As part of our referral program, you can provide contact information (like the name and e-mail address) of your friends and family whom you think would like to receive Insight products or services. The users referred to us receive sample Insight e-mails, but do not become members until they confirm their interest in the service.
Surveys and Contests
From time to time, we may run surveys and/or contests on our site in which we may ask you for additional information. Participation in such surveys or contests is completely voluntary. We use and treat such information in accordance with this privacy statement.
