Nathan
K. Bryce
Nathan is
the founder of the Insight Intellectual Reserve, LLC, and the co-founder
of the nonprofit Insight Learning Foundation where he is presently serving
as the Executive Director. His duties include overseeing the training
and product development efforts of the company.. He is the author of most
of the educational products and training programs currently used by Insight.
Below is a list of some of his publications and consultancies.
Publications
- Standing
Naked in the Shower: Life-Enriching Insights That Expose Human Nature.
This 400-page book explores in detail each of the four personality temperaments
in ten categories: Values, Motivation, Communication, Work, Supervision,
Recreation, Childhood, Youth, Education, and Love. It also includes
the full-length Insight Personalty Instrument, and a historical review
of 21 major quaternary personality theories.
- How
to Deal With Difficult
Learners. An 8-16 hour training program, a three-hour video
series, and a 70-page participant workbook that are all used to teach
professional educators how to work more effectively with different personality
styles, especially at-risk students. It was co-developed with Dr. Darryl
Townsend and George Nelson.
- Understanding
Personality Styles: A Key to Effective Teaching. A 10-episode
video series that was produced for a subsidiary of Paramount Pictures
and has since been broadcast over public television. It was designed
to help professional educators learn how to alter their teaching styles
to accommodate the learning styles of their students. It was co-developed
with Dr. Darryl Townsend and George Nelson.
- The
Insight Skills Library.
2,175 pages of "colorized" learning activities for teaching 53 cognitive,
social, personal and employment skills to teenagers and adults. It was
designed to complement the US Government's JTPA and SCANS program requirements.
- The
Cognitive Skills Program Volume 2. A collection of 44 lesson plans
for teaching life skills to youth and adults involved in a cognitive
restructuring program. It was co-developed with George Nelson.
- The
Insight Personality Instrument. A 40-item, self-scoring, psychometric
device used to identify an individual's unique personality temperament.
It is based on the author's own research as well as work from Carl Jung,
Isabel Myers, David Keirsey and other personality researchers.
- The
Insight Resource Book.
A collection of six booklets, totaling 45,000 words, that provide a
thorough analysis of each type and offers suggestions for application.
- The
Insight Card Deck. A patented
version of the Insight Personality Instrument that uses graphics and
text on 40 cards to identify an individual's temperament.
- The
Insight Discovery Cards. A set
of four, 5x7" cards with pictures on one side and text on the other
that are used to identify an individual's primary personality type.
Available in adult, youth and child versions.
- The
Insight Discovery Kit.
A 28-page summary of the information contained in the Insight Resource
Book. It provides suggestions for enhancing relationships, communicating
more effectively, reducing stress and conflict, magnifying personal
strengths and successfully motivating others.
- The
Insight Discovery Audio.
A 60-minute cassette that features the author's comments on personality
styles and instructions on how to identify your own personality style
and the style of others.

Computing - Phoenix, Arizona. (Oct 1991-Jan 1997) Proprietor. Developed
commercial software and authored user's manuals and promotional materials.
Supervised the production of custom CD-ROMs. Installed personal computer
systems and provided training to end-users. Provided computer consulting
and full-service desktop publishing services.
- National
Curriculum and Training Institute - Paradise Valley, Arizona. (Oct
1989-Feb 1994) Director of Publications and Computer Services. Supervised
the development and production of all company training programs, student
workbooks, merchandise, office materials, business papers, proposals,
marketing materials, advertisements, newsletters, brochures, etc. Recommended,
installed and customized computer hardware and software used throughout
the company. Developed an extensive, multi-user, telephone registration
network and trained operators on computer operations.
- Southwest
Corrective Training Institute - Tempe, Arizona. (Jan 1988-Oct 1989)
Manager of Data Processing and Desktop Publishing. Transferred written
records into a computer database. Generated reports and audited data.
Provided desktop publishing services to generate office forms, presentation
materials and company products.
- J Samuel
Park - Portland, Oregon. (July 1986-Oct 1987) Office Manager and
Publishing Director. Recommended and installed computer system in a
250-person organization. Developed custom database systems to record
and evaluate personnel, inventory, sales and financial data. Streamlined
office procedures and managed office personnel. Designed and produced
office forms, training books, promotional materials, reports and newsletters.
- Arizona
Public Service - Phoenix, Arizona. (May 1985-Sep 1985) Summer Intern.
Developed comprehensive database applications to inventory and monitor
the company's extensive computer hardware and software resources.
- Honeywell
- Phoenix, Arizona. (May 1984-Aug 1984) Summer Intern. Obtained job
as part of the grand prize award for a state-wide computer programming
contest. Worked on mainframe and personal computer systems to develop
software applications.
Additional Information
Nathan is
a fourth-generation Arizona native, in his mid 30's, married to Kristin
Roberts, and the proud father of four boys: Christopher, Andrew, Matthew
and Timothy. His hobbies include making candy, watching classic movies,
programming computers and composing music (he arranged and performed the
music on the Insight Discovery Audiocassette and the Understanding
Personality Styles: A Key to Effective Teaching video series.) He
is an active member of his church where he spends about a dozen hours
each week volunteering his services.
